Privacy policy
Last updated September 25, 2026
Sortle is a Chrome extension that organizes your chats on ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. It's built so your chats stay on your own computer. This policy explains exactly what Sortle handles and where it goes.
What stays in your browser
Sortle stores your folders, which chats are in which folder, pinned chats, saved prompts and settings using Chrome's own storage on your device. To show and search your chats, Sortle reads the chat list and chat text on chatgpt.com, claude.ai and gemini.google.com while you have them open. All of this stays in your browser. Sortle has no servers that receive it, and we never see your chats.
What Sortle sends
To unlock Pro, Sortle sends the email address you bought with to a small server we run, which confirms your purchase and emails you a one-time code when you unlock Pro on a new browser. That server stores only your email address, whether you've bought Pro, and which browsers are unlocked. No chat content, folder names or prompts are ever sent.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle processes your name, email address and payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive your name, email address and order details so we can deliver your license key and help you with support. We never see your full card details.
This website
getsortle.com doesn't use analytics or ad trackers, and its fonts are served from this site rather than a third party. When you buy, Paddle's checkout may use cookies it needs for payments and fraud prevention.
If you email us, we use your address only to reply to you.
Sharing
We don't sell or rent personal data, and we don't share it except with Paddle and the providers that run our server and send our emails, as described above, or when the law requires it.
Your choices
- Uninstalling Sortle deletes the data it stored in your browser.
- You can ask us to delete the order details we hold by emailing us. Paddle may need to keep some records for tax and legal reasons.
Children
Sortle isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Big changes will also be announced in the extension.
